FAQs
What services do you offer?
1
Every appointment is unique in its own way, but as a generalisation they will include a variety of sports massage, soft tissue release, muscle energy techniques, neuromuscular treatment, trigger point work, and positional release. The pressure and cadence used will also vary client to client, some preferring gentle relaxing work, and some preferring “elbows out” deep pressure.
Who is Soft Tissue Therapy/ Sports Massage for?
2
I believe that my treatment is for everyone. I have worked on a huge variety of people ranging from elite athletes at the very top of their game, to people suffering with chronic pain, to elderly people seeking better quality of movement. The only exceptions are if I believe someone is suffering with a problem outside of my scope of practice, I will immediately refer them to the appropriate medical professional, or ask for a GP’s note giving the green light for treatment.
What locations do you cover?
3
I have several locations available around Harlow and Bishop’s Stortford, I also cover most of Hertfordshire and Essex on a mobile basis, as a general guide anywhere within an hour of Bishop’s Stortford (excluding anywhere inside the ULEZ). If you’re outside of that area, please get in touch anyway and I’ll see if I can refer anyone I’d recommend closer to you.
You can reach out to me any time either by the contact form on my website, direct email/ text/ WhatsApp/ social media DM, or give me a call. I do my best to respond to everyone as quickly as possible.
Feel free to get in touch if you’ve got any queries but don’t necessarily want to book in, I will always respond.

How do I get booked in?
Please wear loose fitting sportswear, and shorts if you would like your legs treated. Necklaces will have to be removed prior to upper back/ neck work.
Massage work often requires exposing various areas of skin, however I will never ask you to undress beyond your comfort level, and towels will always be draped to preserve modesty and maintain comfort. Specifically for female clients, please wear a bra with a clasp that may be undone to facilitate mid/ upper back work if needed.

What does massage actually do?
6
That’s a very good question. Currently we only have wrong answers and less wrong answers, in the past it was believed that massage could flush toxins out of muscles, break down knots/ scar tissue, and improve circulation. However it is incredibly likely that none of this is true based on modern evidence- certainly no cadaver study has ever found a “knotted muscle”.
It seems most likely to me that massage has an effect on the nervous system and modulates how it detects and responds to pain. Beyond that is above the scope of an FAQ but if anyone is interested in talking about this more then feel free to get in touch!
